Integrative Methods

Co-operation and business models

Objectives

The engineering sciences are characterised more than other sciences by a close co-operation between universities, research establishments and industry. Eventually it is about a value chain, which begins in the basicnear research and ends in marketable and innovative products.

A productive application of e-science environments in the engineering sciences is therefore possible only on the basis of co-operation and business models, which are accepted by all partners and build the management basis of the engineering processes.

Proceeding

In this work package requirements are defined, which can be implemented only partially within the work package. However the most part these requirements will affect the technologies and processes of the integration project directly. Also specifications for the integration project are compiled accordingly in this work package.

Safety and trust models

Objectives

In this work package requirements are defined concerning the topic security and confidence, which are to be implemented partially prototypically, but on the other hand are to provide a basis for the work in later phases of D-Grid. Those Requirements within the ranges engineering and medicine within the range security and confidence go partly far beyond the requirements of ther science ranges, have however on the other hand a high degree at cover. This is because of the fact that one deals usually in both areas with collaborations models, which can be described as private/public partnerships. On the public side the partners are universities, hospitals and large-scale-research facilities, on the private side in the field of the engineering the industry and in the case of the medicine the patients. Furthermore it is indispensable in the ranges engineering and medicine to establish right from the start of the project determined basis functionalities as lasting service which is then extended gradually in the course of the project. Therefore it is obvious to accomplish this subproject in the CGs In-Grid and MediGRID in close coordination with DGI for contentwise and economic reasons. The allocation of the work between In-Grid and MediGRID was selected in such a way that both projects can exist and work at least in the first promotion period also independently. While in-Grid works on Business Security in particular, in MediGRID additionally the range personnel Security is covered.
