1- Interactive visualisation and monitoring

Objectives

A goal of this work package is to provide for engineers a working environment in which different working methods are supported as uniformly and constantly as possible by the execution and evaluation of simulations in Grid environments. It must thereby be distinguished between two in principle from each other different problem definitions and the resulting approaches from it. Very large simulation problems result in -also in the case of parallelism- running times from several hours to days. The focus at such simulations is on the flexible job preparation, the distribution of the data on the involved resources, the migration of simulations from one computer to another one and the visualization of these generally very large data records.

In other cases, by efficient parallelism and the use of high performance computers, the computing times can be so shortened that an interaction with the simulation becomes possible. The outcome of this is completely different requirements to the integration of all involved components. As a result of the consistent conversion and fully automatic integration arises a system, in which engineer and/or. Groups of engineers can modify, simulate and evaluate virtual prototypes directly from the desktop or in an VR environment, and thus can optimize the Product within a session.

With the visualization environment COVISE a Tool is at the project´s disposal, which permits to integrate generation of geometry, reprocessing, simulations, postprocessing and visualization in one environment. It is to be adapted in this work package to the requirements in Grid environments.
