Recent studies (read more here) suggest that Brazil has an offshore wind technical resource of 1.3 TW between 0 and 100 m water depths. The study was based on remote sensing and climate data and employs a method that considers the stability of the atmosphere for extrapolating winds to the height of turbines.ย
Considering the Exclusive Economic Zone, the technical resource is 7.2 TW. Resources found in the north and northeast coasts were complementary on a seasonal scale. Significant resources were also found in the southeast and south Brazil.ย
The measured wind condition in the southeast will be numerical simulated as a benchmark case in HPCWE.ย
