HiPEAC Network of Excellence

The HiPEAC² Network of Excellence groups the leading European industrial enterprises and academic institutions in the domain of high-performance and embedded architectures and compilers. The network has 348 members affiliated to 74 leading European universities and 37 multinational and European companies. This group of experts is therefore ideally positioned to identify the challenges and to mobilize the efforts required to tackle them.
The research program in HiPEAC² is structured in 7 clusters:

• Multi-core architecture
• Programming models and operating systems
• Compilation
• Design and Simulation
• Interconnects
• Reconfigurable computing
• Binary translation and virtualization

Particularly related to the objectives of the S(o)OS project is the cluster on programming models and operating systems. The main objective of this cluster is to create a powerful European research community for programming models and runtime environments for exa-scale architectures based on future many-/multi-core architectures.
