Created in 1991 and vigorously supported by the regional authorities, UVSQ plays a role in the regional development of the Yvelines area, with sites at the heart of seven towns (Versailles and Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, along with Vélizy, Mantes-la-Jolie, Rambouillet, Le Chesnay, Poissy).
Research programmes and high-level vocational training programmes have been set up and are oriented towards the university’s nearby cultural environment. Based on the interaction between sciences and technology on the one hand and humanist culture on the other, these training programmes concern the tourism sector, professions in the history field (archive science, museology, conservation), along with intercultural communication, multimedia, development of scientific and technical culture. By forging partnerships, the university ensures that its environment benefits from multidisciplinary expertise and contributes to its development, enhancement and reputation.

CAPS Enterprise is a new company, created in 2002, specialising in high performance and embedded computing. It aims at providing innovative tools and techniques for supercomputers. More specifically, CAPS Enterprise proposes a technology related to the project goals, a library generation tool for superscalar processors. The CAPS Enterprise contribution to the project will help it to bring to the market more efficient products that exploit iterative compilation techniques. These products will address the high performance applications but will also be pertinent for the embedded market.

The Institut National des Télécommunications (INT) is part of the Groupe des Ecoles des Telecommunications (GET), a public institution funded by the French Ministry of Telecommunications. INT provides graduate programs in engineering and management, and carries out research in the broad field of communications and information technology. The faculty includes 150 permanent professors and 140 Ph.D. students. INT has been recently involved in a wide range of projects financed by the European Union, and in Eureka projects.
Within INT, the Computer Science Department develops a research and development activity in the domain of high performance computing. Special emphasis is put on scheduling, on optimization of communications, on parallelization of applications and on automating the use of parallel resources by end-users. The Computer Science Department participated recently to the French RNRT CESURE project (1999-2001), to the French Finnish AMPROS project on proactive computing (2003-2005), and to the ITEA projects VIVIAN (2000-2002) and OSMOSE (2003-2005). It is currently involved in the ITEA projects S4ALL (2005-2007) and SUMO (2005-2007).
INT has a long experience in parallel architectures and tools for parallel applications development. Recently we have designed several tools for helping users to parallelise their applications as AIPE (Automatic Integration for Parallel Execution) that provides an environment for parallelising parametric applications or SAPFL that parallelises "for" loops using checkpointing techniques. In this project, we are interested in making parallel programming paradigms evolve towards better interactions between users and smart middleware.
