GWT-TUD GmbH (GWT), a private company, based in Dresden, Germany, was established in 1996 and forms a subsidiary of the TUDAG Enterprise Group.

With its more than 200 employees and an annual turnover of about 18 million Euros, GWT belongs to the larger technology transfer companies in Germany. Management and staff of GWT refer to their professional expertise and experience within the academic and research environment as well as the industry. GWT mainly commercialises high technology developments, provides a business framework and offers support for RTD and its industrial exploitation and dissemination.

GWT’s close co-operation with more than 100 research institutes, 5 universities and 14 Fraunhofer Institutes ensures a high technical and scientific standard of the services performed.

The research unit “Tools for High Performance Computing” is part of the Department of Electrical Engineering / Information Technology / Computer Science. Since 1998, various national and international projects have been realised within this unit. GWT promotes the performance analysis tool Vampir and is responsible for product development, quality assurance, maintenance, marketing, and sales.

In the context of the project, GWT will further improve the performance analysis tools and extend their usability to modern computer architectures. GWT also wants to broaden its experiences and knowledge in performance tools and parallel program optimisation support for applications.
