INTES GmbH (http://www.intes.de/) is an engineering company focussed on its product PERMAS, a general purpose finite element analysis system. PERMAS has a broad application range and is mainly used in the automotive (& supplier), tooling machine and aerospace industry. Some clients are e.g. Porsche, Daimler, Mahle, Siemens, ZF, Astrium. INTES has been founded in 1984 and is headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany with a subsidiary in France (INTES France). For the PERMAS development, INTES has participated successfully to several national and EC projects (i.e. for the parallelization of the software). For the proposed project, INTES contributes by its knowledge in SMP (pthread based) and DMP (MPI based) parallelization methods. Furthermore a long term experience with topics such as latency, cache-behaviour, bandwidth, automatic task graph parallelization, and task scheduling exists.

The major interest will be to gain experience with different levels of parallelization, based on task parallelism as well as on data parallelism. The challenge for the H4H project is seen to provide solvers for different analysis domains, which cover a sufficient application range for the clients.
