The Akogrimo framework is targeted to scenarios where mobile dynamic virtual organizations (MDVO) require the ability to dynamically adapt the organisational structure to changing local situations, to dynamically establish and process complex workflows, and to access data and compute intensive services from distributed, sometimes even mobile resources. Of particular relevance is the integration of location based services and spontaneous usability. The following features are exhibited: - mobility and context awareness
- personalisation, privacy, security
- cross-organisational distributed resources
- heterogeous, dynamic environments
- Quality of Service (QoS)
- job and data services
Potential deployment scenarios are e.g.:e-learning, considering learners, resources, and teachers, featuring collaboration, personalisation (learning profiles, special needs), learner-centricity, context-awareness, ubiquity/accessibility/availability, nomadism/mobility.e-health, for patients, doctors, resources, etc.; requiring resource sharing (by virtualization of distributed resources), access policies, continual accessibility, high performance computing (e.g. real-time image composition).disaster/crisis handling, requesting ad-hoc establishment of Mobile Dynamic Virtual Organisations (MDVOs) for multi-organisational collaboration and resource sharing, complex problem and data domains, rapid changes and decisions.teleworking, with mobile and nomadic experts in different places than the ’real work’ using a collaborative environment incl. a knowledge management system (e.g. for sectors like aerospace, automobile, chemistry, petrol, engineering).
forecasting, for maritime weather or traffic; direct communication with measurement centres is essential, where some of these nodes are mobile and nomadic (e.g. weather sensors in travelling boats).
logistics, for distribution companies with mobile and nomadic loads, trucks/boats/planes, operators, schedulers, to optimise routes and cargo, response time, delivery time.tourism/leisure, providing tourism and leisure information (ubiquitous/pervasive), performing actions while a person is travelling, taking into account contextualised spatial and temporal information. Wherever a person is located, an MDVO could be set up.Several testbeds both particularize and validate the requirements on the Akogrimo framework. The selected testbeds are crisis management, e-health and e-learning; they are described in single sections. |
