Events: 15th IST Mobile & Wireless Communication Summit - Special Session: Mobility and GridsPosted by: iccsntua
Grid computing has recently migrated from traditional high performance and distributed computing to pervasive and utility computing based on the advanced capabilities of the wireless networks and the lightweight, thin devices. This has as result the emergence of a new computing paradigm which is the Mobile Grid. The basic motivation and benefits that can stem from this new technology are targeting at the same time various sectors such as business, industry, education, leisure and the everyday life of the “mobile” citizen in general.
The aim and scope of this session is to cover topics such as:
• Mobile grid and peer-to-peer computing
• Pervasive/Ubiquitous computing and communications architectures and protocols
• Ambient, invisible and implicit
• Algorithmic paradigms, models and analysis of pervasive computing systems
• Enabling and inter-connected networking technologies (e.g., cellular, ad hoc, hybrid)
• Context-aware computing and location-based services and applications
• Service creation, discovery, management, and delivery mechanisms
• Programming paradigms for pervasive and ubiquitous computing applications
• Novel applications
• Security, privacy, fault-tolerance and resiliency issues
• Business models for mobile Grids
• Knowledge Management based on Grid Services
• Grid Services and Semantic Grid
• Cross Layer Communication
• Grid and Mobile Grid economy
• Mobile Grids in education
• Scientific, industrial and social implications

Submissions and Participation
To enable lively and productive discussions, you are invited to submit a research paper which motivates interesting discussions among participants. Papers should clearly state how they relate to the special session, what particular problem and corresponding solution they address, and why it is expected to be relevant to both the session and the community.
Submitted papers should not exceed five pages, incl. graphs and figures and authors should use the IEEE template, as indicated in the relative site of the Mobile Summit. Papers will be accepted only in pdf format, and should be submitted by e-mail to Mr. Antonis Litke (ali@telecom.ntua.gr) with the indication in the subject: Special session: Mobility and Grids.
Registration for participation will be made through the registration site of the IST Mobile Summit. The acceptance of a submission implies that at least one of the authors will register for the session and actively participates in the discussion groups.
Accepted papers will be published in the proceedings of the conference.
